Take a few moments to be mindful…

Mindfulness is all about focusing your attention on the present. Taking time to reflect on the here and now. It’s important in the fast-paced, ever-changing world to take a moment, breath, and just be in the moment. Join us for a few minutes of mindfulness during our live session or take a break in your day and view the recording.

Activity for 5/11-5/15

Movin’ Mindful Minutes April Showers bring May Flowers! Get outside and try a Mindfulness Walk! Talking a walk outside can be really great for your mental health when we have to spend so much time at home. Here are a few tips to make your walk more mindful. Before you go for the walk, take a few deep breaths, clear your mind, and let's go!

During you walk take a pause, allow for yourself to engage your senses.
~LOOK~

  • Look up. Look at the trees and the way the leaves move. Look at the sky and hunt for the patterns in the clouds.

  • Look around. Look at the fields and landscapes. The signs telling you were to go.

  • Look down. Look at the trail and road. The shadows moving around the grounds.

Give yourself time to get take in the walk!

Let us know what you notice on your walk.

Activities for 5/4-5/8

Mindful Studying When studying or doing homework, spend a minute becoming aware of your physical surroundings: the feeling of sitting in the chair; the background noises playing in the distance. Take a few breaths, focusing on the physical sensation of the inhale and exhale.

When you begin to work, set a timer for 20 minutes. Each time that you find yourself distracted, try to notice when it has happened. Take 4 breaths and come back to your work. Remember that distractions are inevitable, so there is no need to become frustrated or impatient. As you practice mindfulness, you will have fewer distractions.

Mindful Bed Making Every night our beds give us a chance to rest, reset and recharge. In the morning, our beds offer a chance for mindful meditation. When you start to clear the bed to remake it, take this time to clear your mind. When putting the sheet back centered on the bed, focus on finding your center and purpose for the day. Take a deep breathe in and out every time you place a pillow or tuck in a sheet. Go about your day knowing that when it is time to rest again, your bed is made waiting for you!

Recordings 4/27-5/1

This week our focus is on mindful eating. This is maintaining an in-the-moment awareness of the food and drink one puts into their body. On Monday, we discussed the ways to track one’s eating habits in a healthy manner. When writing down eating habits, it’s important to note the intake of food and the feelings that come with it. Remember to observe instead of judge. During a meal this week we encourage you to sit down in a lovely spot, breathe, and focus on just eating that meal. The emails can wait. Take a moment for yourself!
